Peace On Earth
How do you
define peace? Webster has five applications of the definition. I like these:
2
: freedom from disquieting
or oppressive thoughts or
emotions
3
: harmony in personal
relations
: in a state of
concord or tranquillity
Each one of these definitions describes a sense of
freedom. Do you experience peace in your
life? If so, how do you obtain peace? What brings you a sense of freedom or
tranquility? For some, it may be time involved with a hobby. Others may be time
spent with family or some other relaxation technique. These are good, but are
to never come in between you and God.
No matter what
method, if your are able to obtain peace on your own, is it sustainable, does
it last any period of time or through any circumstance? As a believer, I can
find enjoyment in a hobby, time spent with family, or even just a walk in
nature. But, I have come to know, that
the only peace that sustains is a trust in Jesus' ability to be who He says He
is. Philippians 4:7 "And the peace of God, which surpasses
all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus".
I
must allow Him the opportunity to provide that which He desires, to carry my
burdens.
As believers we too often take matters into our own
hands, pushing Christ aside as if He does not exist. How successful has that
ever been for you? It doesn't work for me Yes, we do have responsibilities, but
not the responsibility to worry which only provides doubt in Christ's
abilities. Christ does want to provide your peace. Do you believe He can? You
must have faith!
John 3:16 says that Christ died so that whoever
believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. A life free from fear and at peace with God,
self, and others. A life surrendered to Him, releasing all control or even the
desire to control over to Him. Hard,
yes! Impossible, no!
Get to know Christ better. READ THE WORD! BE DOERS
OF THE WORD! TRUST JESUS! I guarantee that you will understand the 5W's of Christ (who,
what, when, where, and why) you will obtain the peace He describes and have
greater fulfillment in your life.
