Transforming the Abandoned

I went to an art festival with my family today.  There were many exhibitors. As we were walking down the street, I saw a booth with some interesting photographs displayed.  I walked over to get a closer look and was amazed at what I saw.

There were photographs of abandoned buildings covered with graffiti, broken windows, and litter strewn across the properties. All were covered with beautiful colorful lights. The artist Xavier Nuez was displaying his work that resurrected the beauty of the abandoned, dilapidated buildings in the worst sections of many cities across this country.

Like this artist, we are to be available with the gospel of Christ to bring light into those who are lost in the darkness of this world. Christ's light shinning in and through us can help "resurrect" those who have been broken, abused, defaced, and de-valued by Satan's lies. The question is, are your available? Do you see potential in yourself? Do you see yourself playing a significant role in this endeavor? Are you being transformed?

This artist looks past the decay and clutter and sees potential. He knows his ability to transform what the naked eye sees as rubble into amazing pieces of art. Christ transforms. Romans 12:2 "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."

We too can be used to transform the lives of others if we allow Christ to transform ours.
